New Career: A Strong Passion For Community And Family

(Champaign, IL) It’s hard to believe that local resident Calvin Teubel was listening to people, understanding their needs and goals, and working to facilitate wins in the field of cardiovascular imaging not too long ago; both in front line patient care for 8 years and leadership of CV imaging for another 8 years. But he did and believes there is a translatable focus from healthcare to flooring. How?

“I loved what I was doing,” explained Calvin, “and it was very important work. I am a bit of a perfectionist and as such I spent many hours and much energy in my career. I’m also the proud dad of six, and at some point, it was time to refocus on a new career that would utilize my strengths while allowing me to spend more time with my family. Something that was fun, creative, and flexible. Work in and on the home is personal, we can feel a little vulnerable when others are in our haven, and having an acute sense of that is important,” said Calvin. “Respecting other’s safe space when exploring improvements is something I take very seriously in anyone I am dealing with.”

Calvin’s transition from healthcare to flooring was driven by his passion for community engagement and family involvement. “I was looking for a new challenge that aligned with our family mission. We wanted to be more active in the community and create opportunities to work with our children in the future,” says Calvin. “Floor Coverings International’s vision and values resonated with us, as we are committed to delivering what we promise, respecting individuals, and continuously improving.”
